Deal Registration lets your Partner Reps tell you about the opportunities they're working while they're working them — not after the fact. A rep registers a deal from their portal, moves it through their pipeline as it progresses, and you follow along from the Deals page: the value, the expected close date, the stage, and a message thread with the rep on every deal.
When a deal closes, Partner.io records it as a lead and — if you have a CRM connected — syncs it across, so the partner-sourced revenue lands where the rest of your pipeline lives.

Before you start
Deal Registration is a plan feature. When it's on, Deals appears in your admin navigation and a Deals board appears in the partner portal. If you don't see it, it isn't enabled for your account.
You also need:
At least one Partner, with
at least one Partner Rep who can sign in to the portal.
Reps register the deals, so a program with no reps has nothing to register.
Connecting a CRM is optional — everything below works without one, except the CRM sync described in When a deal closes.
Who creates deals
Partner Reps do, from the portal. Deals are registered by the rep working the opportunity — there's no "create deal" action on the admin side, so every deal on the Deals page came from a partner.
A rep registering a deal provides:
Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Deal name | Yes | What the opportunity is called. |
Value | Yes | The expected deal value, in the chosen currency. |
Currency | Yes | Defaults to your company currency. |
Stage | Yes | Where the deal sits today — see Stages. |
Contact email | Yes | The email of the contact at the prospect. |
Contact first / last name | No | |
Expected close date | No |
The contact email is required for a reason — it's what lets the deal become a lead and reach your CRM when it closes. See When a deal closes.

Stages
A deal moves through six stages. Reps own the stage — they move their own deals along as the opportunity progresses.
Stage | Meaning |
|---|---|
New | Just registered. The rep has an opportunity but hasn't qualified it yet. |
Qualified | The rep has confirmed there's a real opportunity here. |
Proposal | A proposal or quote is with the prospect. |
Negotiation | Terms are being worked out. |
Closed Won | The deal closed. |
Closed Lost | The deal didn't close. |
Closed stages are one-way. Once a deal is Closed Won or Closed Lost it can only move to the other closed stage — it can't go back to New, Qualified, Proposal, or Negotiation. A deal marked closed by mistake can be corrected between Won and Lost, but it can't be reopened.
What you can do from the Deals page
The Deals page lists every deal registered across your program.
Search by deal name, stage, or partner name.
Filter by Partner, by Partner Rep, or by stage.
Sort by deal name, value, or date created.
Open a deal to see the full record and talk to the rep.
Delete a deal from its row menu or from the deal itself.

Inside a deal
Opening a deal gives you the record on the left and a message thread on the right.
You can edit: the deal name, the value, and the expected close date. Changes save when you confirm them in the save bar at the bottom.
You can't edit the stage. It's shown as a badge, because the stage reflects where the rep has the opportunity. If you believe a deal is at a different stage, message the rep on the deal — that conversation is right there.
The message thread is created with the deal and is scoped to it, so every question about that opportunity stays in one place. You can attach files to it.

Notifications
Your team is notified about deal activity — in-app, by email, and in Slack if you've connected it.
Event | Notification |
|---|---|
A rep registers a deal | "Partner registered a new deal" |
A deal moves to Closed Won | A deal-won notification |
A deal moves to Closed Lost | A deal-lost notification |
Any other change to a deal | A deal-updated notification |
Notifications go to everyone on your team. Anyone who'd rather not get the emails can turn them off in their own email preferences — the in-app notification still arrives.
When a deal closes
Moving a deal to Closed Won or Closed Lost is the moment the rest of Partner.io gets involved. Three things happen:
A lead is created for the deal, if one doesn't exist already. It's marked Won or Lost to match, attributed to the rep who registered the deal, and carries across the deal name, value, currency, and expected close date. Its source is recorded as a partner deal, so you can tell it apart from a referral.
The contact is attached to that lead, using the contact name and email from the deal.
The lead syncs to your CRM, if you have one connected and lead syncing enabled.
Deals in open stages — New through Negotiation — do not create leads and do not sync. Nothing leaves Partner.io until the deal closes.
Because the lead is what syncs, a deal registered without a contact email can't reach your CRM. The portal requires one on the form, so this only affects deals created before that requirement.
Once created, the deal and its lead stay linked. If you later delete the deal, the lead remains — it just loses its link back.
Deals and Leads
Both track partner-sourced revenue, from different ends:
A lead is a referral a partner hands you, which your team works.
A deal is an opportunity the partner works, which they keep you posted on.
A closed deal becomes a lead, so your lead reporting still covers everything. A lead never becomes a deal.
Deleting a deal
Deleting removes the deal from Partner.io, along with the conversation on it. It can't be undone.
If the deal had already closed and produced a lead, the lead survives — along with its value and status — so deleting a deal doesn't erase revenue you've already recorded. The lead simply stops pointing back at a deal.
FAQ
Can I register a deal on a partner's behalf? No. Deals are registered from the partner portal by a Partner Rep. If a rep told you about an opportunity elsewhere, you can record it as a lead instead.
Can I approve or reject a registered deal? There's no approval step. A registered deal is visible to you immediately; use the deal's message thread to discuss it with the rep.
Can I move a deal back out of a closed stage? No. Closed Won and Closed Lost can be swapped for each other, but a closed deal can't be reopened.
Why hasn't a won deal appeared in my CRM? Check that the deal has a contact email, that a CRM is connected, and that lead syncing is enabled for your account. The sync runs off the lead the deal creates, so all three have to be true.
Does the rep see my edits? Reps see the deal record, so a change you make to its name, value, or expected close date shows on their side too.
Who can see a deal in the portal? The rep who registered it. Partner Admins at the same Partner can see every deal registered by their team.
